House, first day
May. 18th, 2022 11:27 pmSince one of Escape Calico's duties on Tuesday was to "decorate" the bed, we took advantage of the misfortune to do a hell of a lot of laundry. So I wasn't working with quite my entire complement of things in the right place. That led to patchy sleep, but I got enough eventually.
It was a long drive, enlivened by some podcasts, a call from Amarie, and music (after my stupid bluetooth setup failed to do the right thing, again).
I brought some gear and some snacks and some quiet things to do while Ev was running all over the house. I only got as far as locating the one project and cutting out the first patch, though.
Aside from the expected things, the house was just fine. Needs some vacuuming, needs some dusting, and the first things to do are to prep for the painters. So Ev spent most of the day running around and taking nails out of the walls. I put away some snacks, unwrapped the fire extinguishers, and took notes on the little things that Ev was mentioning that we needed to get or do.
We eventually made a Lowe's run (since it was closer) but after being in there, the vibe made me really nervous. I don't think I've seen the aggressive USA! USA! tat displays in Home Depot, and I don't like that vibe. Someone made off with our shopping cart while we were looking at spackle, so Ev had to run around and get the missing items again.
By that point I was dizzyfaced hungry (happily, Ev was driving) and we sought food. Ev nommed some of my fries, and discovered the snacks.
I have a number of things lined up for an early morning tomorrow, including a snack box with fruits, an instant coffee all ready for hot water and creamer, and a checklist. Belovedest loaded the toolbox, the folding table, and (most importantly) the rubber mallet in my car.
