As clergy, I have a duty to ease suffering where I find it... all the things I swore when I took the Wizards' Oath so very long ago, after duly considering the responsiblities of it. I think I took the Oath the first time I read the book.

...So what happens when you know that to ease the suffering should be within your power, yet you don't know the manner in which to do it?

Petition the gods, I suppose. Empty and right oneself like in the sermon of the cups, that the gods' blood/wine may not be wasted when it's poured down, mercy and blessing and duty to the petitioner all at once.

My secular solace came of Miles and Cordelia. I should not be surprised when my spiritual advice comes through the medium of Caz.

So the cat belongs there too?

...Well, he *can* be lit by a lighter... he just wouldn't like it very much.

Cousin Fred got back home late last night with two of his three kids. One's a girl, 14 or so, and the other's a 16 year old boy. Loud, for 1 am.

Interesting to meet them, though I didn't really get much of a chance to meet the boy-- he was already happily playing with the computer. He seems to be the reason that MSN Messenger is on this thing.

I'm still waiting to hear back from Seeing Eye Dog Aunt about visiting California for the winter break, yea or nay. It sounds like it might be a yea, but more details have to be confirmed before I can give Dawn a yea or a nay on my attendance at her wedding (whee!) ...

Uncle-Fayoumis wants us to bring home some fireflies for him. Aunt-Fayoumis is busily wrapping up her loom and a clock that Grandma evidently left at some house or other in this area. The logistics of getting everything home in one piece are startling and frightening and I think I have a few cunning plans.

My old friend DC has been due to have a baby any day now. I've been out of town. DB was supposed to show up on or around the 21st of June; she hadn't arrived yet then, but was getting close.

I've been looking at land that we pass with a distinct eye towards settling down somewhere, sometime. I don't know just where, yet, but I want to settle down, preferably with someone to build a nest with.

It would be nice to go back to Alaska and settle down. Damn cold, though. I'll always have a home in Arizona as long as [livejournal.com profile] votania is here, though... that thought makes me happy. It would be nice to be able to pull up my roots and follow the flag (which flag? Unless we're playing "capture the flag" all of a sudden...) anywhere...

I'm ambivalent, but I want my kids (Uh-oh. She's plotting about kids. Run and hide!) to have a grandma near them. (So, Alaska or Arizona, you've got that one covered, right?)

I think the switch for comments from the peanut gallery got set back to "on" while I was asleep. This will never do... but it does soothe the lonliness...

It was much fun. Large room filled with relatives, only a few of whom I knew.

Everybody around the room introduced themselves. It fell to me to introduce my branch of the clan, since the clan record-keepers had lost touch with Grandma.

Afterwards, I had a nice conversation about computers with Max, some distant cousin or other. That was much fun. We exchanged contact information.

IM with Shawn: This bit is pretty boring )
Azure Lunatic says:
I'm sure you're excellent at the raising of little princesses.
Shawn says:
Riiiiiiiiiiight
Azure Lunatic says:
hey, you've got one of your own.
Azure Lunatic says:

Shawn says:
Winter is so freaking destructive.
Azure Lunatic says:
oh?
Azure Lunatic says:
HOw old is she now?
Shawn says:
She's like a 2 foot tall monsoon.
Shawn says:
2 1/2
Azure Lunatic says:
hehe. Winter the Stampede?
Shawn says:
She loves soy beans. She eats them like candy.
Azure Lunatic says:
I hope you have anything fragile packed away very, very securely.
Shawn says:
Yeah, but unfortunatly she can now scale baby gates.
Azure Lunatic says:
oy vey.
Shawn says:
We have them stacked two high in every doorway.
Shawn says:
it barely slowes her down.
Azure Lunatic says:
I recommend a hell of a lot of bubble wrap, cardboard boxes, and your mom's house.
Azure Lunatic says:
...as in she climbs up them like a little lizard?
Shawn says:
My mom has a new house btw.
Azure Lunatic says:
ah. cool.
Shawn says:
She had one built.
Azure Lunatic says:
Excellent.
Azure Lunatic says:
...Winter's going to turn out a hellion like you, isn't she. Migods, karma does work.
Shawn says:
I bought a 64 pack of resses penut butter cups (the big ones) from sam's club.
Azure Lunatic says:

Shawn says:

Azure Lunatic says:
How tall's the dryer?
Shawn says:

Shawn says:

Azure Lunatic says:
Bathing?
Shawn says:
you know, roling around in a big pile.
Azure Lunatic says:
Narcissa and I baked a cake while Mama was on the phone one day.
Azure Lunatic says:
hee! I shouldn't be laughing this hard, but my gods!
Azure Lunatic says:
the mental pictures this creates!
not very interesting conclusion )

My gods. His daughter's a holy terror, probably worse than he was. My gods. Karma works. Poor guy, I'd say, only it's just his just desserts and his wife's too...

Aunt Milly and Aunt-Fayoumis and I lit fireworks in the driveway. The local toads, alarmed, rocked off like baseballs on springs -- round, forward-tilting, jerking in hops.

We caught some fireflies for Uncle-Fayoumis. They probably won't survive the trip back to his house.

Cousin Fred's boy certainly has a lot of friends. He spent almost the entire day on the computer, on MSN, chatting it up with some characters with a lot of hearts in their name. I became somewhat understandably irritated when many of these questionable characters found their way onto my contact list. Fortunately, I have two MSN passports, so I signed in with my other one (the DSL account) and then back in with my own usual ID... this cleared up the problem nicely. Argh. Computers.

I miss Tigereye, and I miss Votania, and I miss Nephew, and I miss Shammash, and I miss Marx, and I miss Dawn, and I miss Neighbor... I miss Fireblossom...

...I miss Darkside.

Dammit.
