Warchalking meets glamourbombing in one of those late-night flashes of wacked inspiration.

[livejournal.com profile] fishberryjam commented in response to my definition of "warchalking", I'd never thought about the anonymous glamourbombing possibilities presented by poorly secured computers on open wireless networks.

Okay, for everybody who I just lost... Wireless networking of computers is getting popular, and not everybody knows how to set up security on their wireless networks to make sure that someone just walking by with a wireless-enabled laptop can't just hook up to the network. So, a lot of people have networks that you can hook into just by walking up with a wireless-enabled laptop. Some of those same people don't know how to set up security on their computers so people can't just waltz in and poke through their computers, without even being in the same room.

If you've got the tools and the skills, you can leave magical messages and images in the unprotected computers of people with wireless networking.

The years and the years ago, there was a cave, and inside that cave, a cracked rock with a volcano at its heart. And the cave was grey and layered and smooth, mixing with the grey-blue light like water into water.

And the light touched the rock. And the fire in the rock was a violent mutagen, poisoning everything it touched, which was why it had been hidden away in the rock in the first place, and the light was contaminated and grieved bitterly with the fire's curse. And then there was the presence of the LORD our God, and while the touch of the LORD was soothing unto the fire, the rock still remained steadfast, and the LORD did not push it. And the light crept into the cracks of the rock where the hand of the LORD had not touched, and then did the rock relent, and the healing touch soothed the violence of the flame within the rock.

And at length, shall the rock crumble unto gravel, and thence unto sand, and the softness of the sand shall be suited unto the cave, and the cave shall be lit brilliantly.

Mmm, rain.

Nice rain outside. Now my bed has sheets again. The couch has no papers on it. The floor has a cat on it. My computer has half-decent speakers, and they have music on them. The music is half decent, if overusing the usual things that hyper club dance music overuse. But, I like hyper club dance music, or else it would not be on my link list.

Music happiness: "Allan Mcloud Feat Fraser - Silent running" == yum.

I love breathing the air when the rain happens.

NUDITY

I was driving with my three young children one warm summer evening when a woman in the convertible ahead of us stood up and waved. She was stark naked! As I was reeling from the shock, I heard my 5-year-old shout from the back-seat, "Mom! That lady isn't wearing a seat belt!"

Got the Little Fayoumis after his club today, and participated in the book buyback. That last may have been a slight misjudgement, as two of the books were wet and could not be returned. Ooops.

Am now wearing a dry shirt and sitting at home. LF has homework. Marx is home too.

Little Fayoumis was thinking and not working at school today. He came home with "too much homework" (his teacher's words). We haven't been doing homework together much for a while, mostly because he hasn't had any on the days when I've had him. So he's gotten out of the habit of doing it happily without making a fuss over it, and the him/Marx interface is not good about reducing dramatics.

But, he's almost done. Just twelve words to put in alphabetical order, and I taught him the process: Read more... )

Little Fayoumis's homework today was because he hadn't been doing it in class; he'd been spacing out instead. He asked if he could have some PS2 time. I said no, because of the homework issue.

There were tears. He was going to go take it up with Marxdarx, but Marx was asleep. He and I sat down and hashed out what, exactly, was not fair about it. He had mistakenly thought that his restriction was related to the fast math, which it wasn't -- it was based on the packet of papers with the orange slip that said "Too much homework :( Wasn't working."

After he understood that, he was resigned to his fate. He'd thought something like that he'd been in trouble for not passing his fast math level and that he'd be restricted from the PS2 until he passed it. Or something.

Kid logic does all kinds of things.

Does anything compare to the pleasures of homemade sushi? Mmmm. I would guess not much. (Not sashimi. I do not have the skills nor the experience for any raw fish, not to mention that I wouldn't know where to come across the good raw materials... )

But at any rate, when [livejournal.com profile] gremliness was through here last year, she made sushi for us, and demonstrated the art. I took careful note, and have made it perhaps once since.

[livejournal.com profile] votania suggested it tonight. I fixed the rice (and served some to the Little Fayoumis with cheese and chicken before altering it) and prepared the vinegar stuff (I used half a cup of vinegar, two tablespoons of brown sugar, and maybe half a tablespoon of salt) and left it to chill while we went out to get other materials. We came back with canned crab meat, avacado, cucumber, and cream cheese, and made variations on those themes, with cheddar cheese too.

[livejournal.com profile] votania rolls tighter logs of sushi than I do, so that's her job now. We laughed about this a lot.

Mmm, sushi is good.

I will try very hard to ensure that there are leftovers tomorrow for [livejournal.com profile] witchofrock.
