Project Blue Tips
Sep. 23rd, 2013 02:34 pmStep 1: complete.
(step 2, also complete, but there are no good pictures yet.)
Step 0: several months ago, indigo.
Step 1: this weekend, bleach just the last few inches of my braid.
Since bleach fries the fuck out of hair in general, and I have very nice
long hair that I don't blow-dry, I am somewhat careful about not doing
horrible things to my already impossible hair. When the bleach damage
inevitably ties the ends in knots, and I get sick of it, I can just cut it
off, rather than waiting years for it to grow out.
I was surprised and gratified to see that the indigo had not worn off; the
bleach turned the un-indigoed bits an orangey blonde, and the indigoed bits
a respectable blue-green.
Step 2: also this weekend, dye the bleached ends of my braid blue. It's
very navy, navy enough that I found it hard to spot just looking at my hair
pulled over my shoulder in the mirror, but that was very evident when
contrasting the end of the braid to say my bangs.
Step 3: if I have the time tonight, I may do the top of my head blue as
well, without bleaching.
