Logistics! Or, how I can do this impromptu thing better next time.

First, I should realize that there's the possibility for this to happen earlier, so there's more notice for other possibly interested parties to show up.

Second, if there's notice, I can actually reserve the room, which means that people like security will have a heads-up that there's something going on.

Also, now security is better informed about how to actually use the projector in that room, because they had to turn it off at the breaker last time.

It would be good to have a slightly more modern machine, because the laptop that I have access to was choking on it a little.

The entire awkward experience with renting the HD version and then not being able to gracefully revert to SD when the DRM choked on some aspect of the entire system (and apparently it's snoopy about headphones and shit, which I just find hella creepy) could have possibly been avoided by some testing first; being tied up with tech support for a half hour was not part of what I wanted to do. (I did flat-out refuse to try it in another browser; I just wanted to be up and running with the SD version as promised, and apparently getting that to load took a bit of doing. Even with having got the browser update to Firefox done beforehand.)

If there are more people, we'd probably want some sort of food. That could be pre-arranged, with a bring-your-own-snacks and maybe some microwave popcorn. As it was, I was okay pausing the movie for five-ten minutes to meet the delivery guy.

I could have my own network cord without snaffling one of Purple's spares. (I could also have the machine updated to talk to the network more happily.)


The important thing was that even though I was the only person who actually showed up, I got to see a movie that I'd been meaning to see before seeing the next one, and I had fun. Which is what counts.
