I haven't managed to put all the recruiter phone numbers in my address book. Today featured:
* repeated calls from yesterday's 2nd call about south Seattle, dude has no chill and I might ask him to avoid phone contact
* call back from one of the stable agencies who like me for a receptionist+ gig in Kent
* 2nd call from Kent, it would start Tuesday if I could commit, except --
* haven't heard yea or nay on the downtown near Bohemia dream job
* guy from yesterday's video interview is still interviewing and won't be ready to go/no-go until Tuesday
Also, unrelated, this afternoon was a fridge repair visit. The fan that I heard failing (long-ish future, not immediately) is not the one that blows across the coils, it's the one that conveys air between the freezer and refrigerator compartments. Return visit scheduled for the end of the month. The freezer is somewhat reorganized, because I pulled most of the things out and put them in the insulated bags. 2 big ones and a small one held most of it.
I saw The Three Body Problem in the library ebook collection and checked it out. I finished it today. The beginning is set during the Cultural Revolution, which warrants its own set of warning tags. I enjoyed it, but I am pretty sure I would not have enjoyed it (as much or at all) if I hadn't read histories of the Cultural Revolution as a kid. None of the main characters seemed to have access to happiness, and the possible interstellar war aspect and the epic gaslighting around that takes away the possibility of contentment. The inner lives of the viewpoint characters seem to be in survival mode. I think I appreciated the scenery as an immersive experience more than the plot. It tasted a little like Anathem, but less pastede on yey.
I also had an anxiety episode with tears last night, after which I changed reading material to an old favorite piece and didn't ultimately get to sleep until 4 (thus my general pissiness at the guy who called before 10 and *kept calling*, delaying my ability to even with each unscheduled call).
