The Day of the New Shelf
Dec. 30th, 2020 08:28 pmShelf's in! It has things on it, and wound up next to the file cabinet. Some of the closed things are labeled, so even though they're opaque they'll still be indexable.
I hadn't thought my labelmaker was lost, but I located it in a place I hadn't expected to find it. Oops.
I woke up at 3-something again, couldn't get back to sleep for a while, got too hungry to sleep, made myself a snack, and by that time it was nearly 7, and time for all good yellcats to be fed. She didn't realize there was food being prepared until I bumped the can against the counter, at which point she came out, meeped at me, and was relatively patient in waiting for her dish to be prepared.
Yesterday we observed that in addition to her (known) white locket (hidden under her collar most of the time) she's got a couple white spots on her fluffy fluffy belly. It's just that she will not suffer herself to be held upside-down like a baby so it's rarely visible. This morning when I scooped her up, I held her upside-down like a baby for just a little bit, so she will perhaps associate that with getting fed shortly thereafter.
The door was open for a while as Belovedest was getting the shelf in this afternoon. Escape Calico took the opportunity to indulge herself in her favorite hobby. Belovedest looked around outside for her and found her sniffing the tall grass (looking for Pokemon?). She permitted herself to be scooped up and recovered to the inside. Cat.
The most exciting point was when the edge of the new shelf clipped the plastic box holding the batteries, and I had a very exciting and fun rain of AAs and AAAs and 9Vs around my feet.
