Ev is moved!
Sep. 14th, 2022 10:54 pmArrived a little after 10, which was when the first U-Haul of stuff was departing. That was the one that was loaded close to the apartment. The resurfacing crew was directing the tow of leftover vehicles in the zone as we arrived.
The guy from judo who has a crush on Ev is genial, and close to her in age, more or less. (He looks like a kid. Ev is going to look like a high schooler until like 40.) He was the one driving the truck.
The able-bodied crew unloaded at the house. I unpacked a water filter pitcher, since the fridge water tastes gnarly.
The less said about the trip back the better. Belovedest and I failed the reverse broccoli test. But we had mostly restored combobulation by the parking lot.
This time the resurfacing was in full force, so the able bodied crew hauled, among other things:
* rowing machine
* desk chair
* cat tree (large)
* 4x2 Ikea Kallax bookshelf
* 4x4 " " "
* glass topped sit-stand desk
* the entirety of whatever was left in Ev's fridge
across at least one stretch of grass, using our good dolly and my little green folding wagon.
I sat by the truck, on guard and also doing some arranging and the occasional interception of a runaway dolly. I successfully hopped up into the truck, a testimony to the power of using a seated elliptical machine as a foot fidget spinner.
If you have drawer inserts in your Kallax, take the drawers out before moving it. Three tumbled out and hit the parking lot hard as the Two Knuckleheads moving service loaded.
Pretty much everything fit.
Nothing tried to slam out and assassinate anyone at the house.
I eventually sent the address to the guy coming to pick up the sack of electrical outlets.
Judo guy left early with the truck.
We rested, had dinner, then commenced getting Ev ready for the morning. Kitty is with the usual suspect coworker (who had hand surgery and shouldn't lift anything). I figured out how to turn the water back on to the washer and ran a load of blankets.
Office is mostly arranged, including UPS. We need to hunt an old USB cable.
Ev found the sheets box. It was mislabeled as dresser clothes. There was already a box of clothes (dresser).
We'll sort out the cars, and the plumbing, in the morning.
