I aten't dead
Mar. 8th, 2025 11:13 pmNot doing much writing, not doing much reading. Finally feeling up to sitting at the computer for a while!
Did gluten free paçzki for use-up-your-cooking-fats Tuesday (aka Fat Tuesday, aka Mardi Gras), which was also infusion day. (So I made them Monday night.) As well as a wheat flour batch. That was a 6-7 hour journey (Belovedest helped by rolling out the GF batch) and I was sore enough by the end that lying down hurt more than standing up. (No ragrats. Though I did request permission from my palliative care team to tweak my pain med dosage until I recovered.)
My primary care is tweaking some of my meds, which is going to be entertaining. And it's about to be Pillbox Filling Week. I was getting ready for the marathon tonight and discovered that I have a week left before it's absolutely necessary. Which is nice, and maybe I'll be ahead of the game for a little while! But that does mean that I'm not going to unleash full chaos until tomorrow!
I'm sitting on a very short Hands of the Emperor fic. The bunny bit me this morning, and I'm turning it around in my head for a while before I take it out anywhere. It's a very brief vignette of an AU where Aya and her husband decide to spring what's-his-name [I know his name] during the vacation after all. (That's it, that's the summary, I don't have any of the Adventurs that would ensue, but it would be Extremely Fun.)
Newest book discovery: The Golden Spider, Anne Renwick. Medical content ahoy, in a Victorian steampunk setting, with a romantic plot along with the mystery. Injured secret agent who is desperate to stay field-qualified, woman medical student with ideas about nerve replacement and a gadget that just might do it and a brother who needs a working leg for his marriage aspirations, and a doctor with more ambition than ethics leaving a trail of gorily experimented-upon bodies. I'm a bit into the second book, The Silver Skull.
Belovedest has been having fun at ECCC. Tomorrow (Sunday) is the last day.
