I am now connecting to IRC from (something).lv.lv.cox, which cracks me up.

Told GM that I wasn't sure if I could continue game. I'm an introvert, see. If I wind up in social situations where I have not bonded with those present enough to not consider them People, it's not a restful or relaxing experience for me. (That's vastly oversimplifying it, but it's basically the situation. I don't particularly think it would qualify as social anxiety, because it's not that I fear spending time with them, it's that I know how much of a drain on my resources spending time with them would be, and if I'm going to be doing something social on my weekend, it had better be worth it in terms of drain. Spending time with Darkside is a worthwhile expenditure, and helps recharge me on my days of rest. Game is not restful; I need another day to recover after game.) Game has some friends, but it also has People, and there's nowhere I can go to retreat from that once I'm there. So it's either go or no-go, and I'm thinking it may become no-go.

Just got finished reading Son of a Witch. It had boykissing! It was enjoyable, and I know there are nuances I'll be still picking up on the third re-read.

[livejournal.com profile] lacey demonstrated her new ringtone to me. It has to be heard for the full effect.

Those Cox.

Tried to get telephone switched over to new place today. Tried online. This did not work: the address came up as not in their database. I called from the old apartment. The guy on the line said that their service was not available at this address. I very carefully did not swear at him.

Note: "register a complaint" gets you routed very quickly to a human being on the Qwest IVR. I called back, steaming. Turns out Cox and the apartment complex have a contract: no other phone providers here. Swearing. Swearing and emo. )

Sis called last night; so did V. I called Sis back, because she was likely to be up still. She had some bad news; [livejournal.com profile] eris_raven got in a fight, savaged the other cat badly, and was put down. She's always been a violent little cuss, so I'm honestly not surprised, but it's still sad to hear.

I don't think the situation with the center is quite as dire as all that, but we're still moving. [livejournal.com profile] sol_amoun is the Counterculture guy; I ran into him while looking around for after-hours meeting spots before.

And, whee poetry slams!

Relative Locations

I have cherries. This makes me happy. I have decided that stopping by Sprouts on my way to work for some seasonal fresh fruit is the thing most likely to keep me on the healthy snacks train, even though it does lead to a lot of cherry pits around my workstation. This is what old styrofoam coffee cups are for, because there are a lot of them that wind up around the workplace.

I'm not sure if the office has issued a memo schooling the new hires on the topic of spill-resistant cuppage yet, but they do need to. I was seeing too much unprotected cock sticky beverage in the call center, and it wasn't just [livejournal.com profile] gameboyguy13, who got notified ahead of the crowd. (I am a hardass, and pick on my friends.)

Hooray corporate breakfast leftovers! I scored strawberries, whipped topping, and pineapple. I passed on the doughnuts, because quite honestly the fruit tastes better and is better for me. Some of my cherries may actually last until tomorrow. I like corporate breakfast meetings, because they always get too much foodz for the whole meeting, and if I don't have to attend the meeting and I get fed, everyone's happy.

My elder clone's little daughter had an appendicitis operation yesterday. She was doing well the last I heard. She was supposed to have heart surgery on the 10th, but gods know what's going to be up with that now.

*facepalm* My trainee said that her goddaughter called her an ID-ten-T, and she thought it was cool until someone called her out on it. I taught her what "RTFM" means.

I have figured out the optimal windowstacking for CGI:IRC at work while actually working. I have something productive in the background, the edge of the cgi:irc window with the timestamps showing, then a productive window on top of that, so I can see timestamp change activity, but the actual conversation is not right out there, and my focus is on what I'm actually working on. Working very well so far.

I definitely know the new poem that's going in my free text now. I wrote it last night and it brought the house down.

Mama's right. I am a poet. I'm just a very literary one.

I will be Out of Lipton Vanilla Caramel Truffle tea as soon as I brew and drink this last bag. I don't think I'll be replacing it any time soon, because the scent is a little too loaded to drink comfortably for a while.

Voice Post: Revision #0 by SpinVox: Cocks(?) is down.

“Hello, as everyone may have noticed, I am offline at the moment. I see that my cocks(?) is down, it's blinking at me & I pinged(?) out last night around 10:30 & I seem not to have gotten service back yet. So, I am a little annoyed & perhaps even raspel(?) but I went to Esels(?) party last night, that was an excellent party. Fun was had by all. Although the air conditioner breaking down in the middle of a delightful drunken party was sort of put a damper on things, although put a heater on things, but not good. We wound up going home around midnight ish with Mack Ferty(?) & then kaboom, bed. I was teasing JD a lot. Now I'm wandering out to do my whole Sat thing. Maybe I'll go hang out with Dock Side later I hope. This is my birthday weekend cos my birthday's on Mon & I'm just hoping it's going to be good.”

So the guys found what was up with the cable problems -- rather than necessarily a hardware filter on the stuff out in the main cable box, it seemed that the owner of the house had unhooked the main cable line from the central splitter-thing and hooked in the cable feed from the satellite dish instead. So when they plugged the cable line from the cable company back into the house's hardwired cable splitter, suddenly WE GET SIGNAL MAIN INTERNET TURN ON!

So they called Cox and let Cox know "o hay it was our wiring inside the house and we fix0red it".

Cox?

Interprets this as "plz disconnect our service lol" and obliges.

W.T.F.

So [livejournal.com profile] stevieg and [livejournal.com profile] ailetoile and [livejournal.com profile] luminairex and occasionally [livejournal.com profile] squidheadjax are without the internets until Cox's sales department opens up and someone can take that nice little scaled-down baseball bat to them. Because OMG. Wow. STUPID.

[~11:30am: They have internets now!!]

Tried walking at work, following a 45 minute meeting
with Management about spreadsheets. I'm sore and tired
and clumsy. Wandered into admin office, where the
Princess, Snarky Lady, her highness the queen of the
office, and the Web Geek were. Fumbled walking roll; bumped into
table. "Had too much of Grandpa's cough syrup before
work?" the Web Geek asked.

"I didn't get enough sleep, because I got Cox this
morning!" I said, levitating slightly on the word
"Cox".

"..." said everyone.

"... We went from DSL to cable this morning, so I had
to clean up. Cox is the new ISP," I clarified.

The tale is making its way around the office.
I'm notorious.
