  • 01:11 @gameboyguy13 Mostly, into the Geek Hierarchy, although a woman will still have to work to be accepted as both competent and geek. #
  • 05:39 Washing lots of washing. Also, changed out the crud in the nail polish remover scrubbyjar. Trying to stay up so I can sleep normally. #
  • 06:40 My eyes no longer have the microfocus setting that it takes to read the microprint around the Visa logo on my bank card. :( #

  • 09:51 It amuses me how the spinning circle has become the gesture for "waiting for the machine to do something" ... to the point where it's GUI. #

  • 23:28 I am all over with the warm-squishies. This unfortunately can go nowhere, as the Shuttleslayer is Mr. Not Interested. #
  • 23:30 @gameboyguy13 Now I have to listen to that. Thanks. #
  • 23:51 The most misogynistic computer science types loathe non-geek females only slightly more than they loathe non-geek males, which is a lot. #

Multiple character goes to the bathroom to herself.

[Edit: Interrupted text message intended to say, "Multiple character goes to the bathroom by herself to talk with herself."]

On the topic of mistranslated filth, and why it's so often lost-in-translation filth rather than jelly doughnuts. In the threads, I wound up mentioning Jean Fritz's moment with orange juice and an egg.

Someone thought that the resulting nonsensical order should be a [livejournal.com profile] nanowrimo project of some sort. But I'm booked this year -- either Captain Davidson's going to take over my brain, or Constance McNeill will, or someone else -- or they'll club together. I really am not sure if I want to see the results if the good Captain and Constance get together, because they're such diametrically opposed forces. And in any case, the Captain wants a series of short stories, not a book. Or, at least, not a book first, because she comes from the episodic format. And Constance is like water, and doesn't hold still for long. And she's already got a piece started.

So. An open writing prompt or challenge: 1,000 Oranges and a Bomb.

Today's prompt: "You're standing in a doorway."

I run with it. )
