Mmm, yum.

Recipe for one very odd Lunatic:

Leftover maraschino cherries.
Drain.
Soak in brandy for a few hours.

Take semi-sweet chocolate chips. Melt.

Remove cherries from brandy. Dry on paper towel.

Dip cherries in chocolate. Place on well-greased plate (I used plastic wrap as well as butter). Refrigerate.


Become intoxicated, cherried, and chocolated all at once. Mmm. Better than the storebought kind.

Oh yeah.

For those who haven't heard the song "Broken Hearts of Fire", if I make references to "drinking with the King of Elfland's Daughter"... that's a bad thing.

Oooh. chocolate.

Thinking about it, and about the box of expensive-ass booze chocolates we saw in the store... I have just established that when you mix certain amounts of strong liquor with melted chocolate chips, one gets a combination that knocks people on ass.

So.

Mix chocolate and liquor, chill, form into balls, dip in straight molten chocolate chips, chill.

Hard outside, nice soft (and intoxicating!) center.

Holiday!!

Rules of Normalization for Recipes

First Normal Form:

There are no ingredients or materials used in the procedure that are not listed up front; all things listed up front are used in the procedure. All processes are in the correct order (preheat oven before starting to mix, mix before putting finished mixture in oven, et cetera).


Second Normal Form (only for procedures with multiple steps happening at the same time; single-procedure recipes are automatically in 2NF):

Each process is listed in the correct procedure (for example, breaking the eggs belongs with putting the eggs in the bowl, rather than with greasing the pans or turning on the oven; the steps for making the filling are all together, separate from the other steps).


Third Normal Form:

Everything is broken down into distinct sections or procedures, and optimized for speed and ease.

Dentist

Went to dentist. Good visit, bad news. I'd basically told the dentist about what he was going to find, and sure enough, he found it. Very nice and polite; this was of course due in part to the fact that I was also nice and delightful to work with.

I'm a very charming, polite, nice, sweet, and quiet person when I'm around people I don't know, or in a professional setting. People who have only known me closely barely recognize me. At home I'm loud, raucous, crude, and occasionally rude or grumpy. I am many people, and most people know only one of me.

It's one of those nights that, in the grander scheme of things, is going to wind up feeling slightly surreal. I have tweaked volume and speaker position so that the strobe light works, now, to be triggered by the beat of the music.

Tomorrow morning I should be waking up at six, then doing laundry, vacuuming, and tidying the house the rest of the way.

I'll take care of my own room tonight. My bed will not be scaring Darkside by being an open invitation to a four-person orgy. I stacked the mattresses so there's really only room for one person, maybe two, but that's iffy.

I really like my room. It's got places to sit down, and soft things, and pretty things, and techie things, and I like it. It's a very delicate balancing act, between my feminine side and my geek side, and I think I like the balance.
