  1. Read the FAQ for the fandom/community, if any. Regularly.

  2. If you only have "SQUEEEE!" to contribute to the discussion, don't. [Edit: If you're going to go "SQUEEEEEEEEE!" fine. Please also contribute coherently once you're capable of it. ]

  3. Namedroppers shouldn't.

  4. Spelling, grammar, punctuation, and coherent train of thought count.

  5. There is no harm in lurking for a bit to sound out a community and get a feel for the usual flow of things before leaping right in.

  6. It's not necessary to contribute to every single thread of discussion, especially if you're not really sure what's going on, but need to make your presence known anyway.

  7. Knowing every possible little bit of trivia related to the object of your fangirl/fanboyishness looks more like creepy stalker type than pleasingly devoted fandom -- unless the object of your obsessive fannishness likes stalkers.

  8. Same with the thing where you're not able to talk about anything but your adoration of $FAN_TARGET.

  9. Oh, and that thing where you think that everything that $FAN_TARGET has done is wonderful, even if you'd think it would be crap if it were done by anyone else? Also not attractive.

  10. Did I mention how obnoxious it is when you let $FAN_TARGET's taste in something (music, media, friends, fashion) dictate yours? Especially where you'd hate it if it were endorsed by someone who $FAN_TARGET is having a running feud with, but love it if $FAN_TARGET said that they liked it, the very next day?

If you'll follow a few of these rules, and, you know, think for yourself and become an interesting person outside of your screaming fandom, maybe people would actually think you had a life.

Dear lab partners (Sam1 and Sam2),

I appreciate the fact that it was difficult for you to get anything done in lab in my absence. I know that I'd have a difficult time deciphering some of Sandstrom's instructions on my own, let alone carrying them out at that time of the morning when I'm a zombie and you aren't much better.

However, the reason you cite for being unable to do last week's lab? The one where you weren't able to log into the Linux box?

I have been unable to express myself on this issue for a good four days, simply because of the shock. You had the password right, and that's the difficult bit.

Sam1, you're g33k. You know more of this shit than I do. Surely you, at least, would know that the administrative account on your default Linux box is 'root' and not 'administrator' ...

Here's hoping you learn this before you get a real job,
Loony

Must cut out grease for the next while, until my body goes back to normal.

At least I read the error messages right...

Next time I get a Linux box, failing any other good names, I'm going to call it All That's Evil.

I'm also going to not use the default all-powerful administrative name, and will instead call that account "cookie".

Yes, I like that song far too much. Shut up.

Mmmmm. I really should make this more often. Hamburger, cheese, egg, broccoli, mushrooms, potato, pepperoni...

The broccoli and the french fries were just sitting there, y'know? And the hamburger needed to be used, and there's always plenty of cheese, and one of those cans of mushrooms was always falling out of the cupboard on people's heads...

By following the simple advice I read in an article, I have finally found inner peace.....

It reads:

"The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you've started."

I looked around to see all the things I started and hadn't finished. So, today I have finished one bottle of white wine, a bottle of red wine, a bottle of Bailey's, my Prozac prescription, a large box of chocolates and a quart of milk.

You have no idea how good I feel. You may pass this on to those you feel are in need of Inner Peace.

*snicker*

Perhaps I should go for inner peace with that box of TJ's chcolate-covered caramels?

Candles

It's fairly obvious that this household does a lot with candles. Since we save our leftover wax, this leads to a lot of leftover wax.

Dipping candles is a bit of a pain, and takes a long time and lots of attention. We don't have the equipment for it anyway. Molds would be better, but we're not equipped for that either.

So, today was candle-reworking time. I put taper candles in jars (in two cases, in saved Kool Whip containers) and kept layering on the molten wax as I melted it down.

Some of them are already hardened. The rest are chilling in the refrigerator. I'm a happy Lunatic (if tired, for unspecified reasons).

Got a whole bunch of stuff from [livejournal.com profile] votania today, who has been cleaning out the stuff at the bottom of her closet. Therefore, as she has no more use for altarcloths, specialized candleholders, and suchlike, I've gotten stuff to re-arrange.

So my altar got cleared off and mopped down, and it's got a lovely bit of heavy white satin on top (stained and a bit waxed), as well as a thing to go under the plate I use for my main ritual area, and something else to go under the incense.

I really need several altars, because I've got the one main one for active work, and then I want a quiet shrine off to the side with the flowers and the long-term things, as well as more storage space, not to mention the one I want to have with Raven and Monkey and the Ladies Dark and Light (and shinies).

I want a zombie and that traditional marriage. I like a bizarre project. I want a copy of a non-canon ship about it.

So the Bitchy Witchy Week psycho-thing hit; I got frightened and tearful and tried calling first [livejournal.com profile] shywickedpixie, then [livejournal.com profile] swallowtayle. Then, of course, I had to call FatherSir because [livejournal.com profile] swallowtayle had moved and hadn't sent me her number.

I'm still shy about calling Ro too late at night, even when I probably should. No blood, nothing pain, no damage, just stress and with that psychotic episode on top.

Wrote to Darkside; requested that he please write back. We'll see how that goes.

FatherSir listened to me vent and suggested soggy sponges placed in seats. Hee. I wish.

Talked with [livejournal.com profile] deeahblita on stuff; got [livejournal.com profile] pyrogenic's new cell number; gave him our Temple line. He wanted to know, what was my last name. ADHD or potential marriage?

Have been reading far too much [livejournal.com profile] somebodies; have added all the entries that quote me to my memories. 27 in all, so far. I had to go into calendar view to get at the individual entries to memory them. Though that's verbing it. You'll notice that a little bit -- more than a little bit -- of the disjointed style has rubbed off on me.

I miss my beloved, and can't wait for Wednesday. I almost mentioned casually, "My girlfriend's a month older than she is," to FatherSir, but he was too busy talking. That'll be the first they would have heard of her... unless the aunts blabbed. Which they could have.

I'm still lonely, tonight. I hate it when I wake him up, because then he's an asshole. I swear, it's like he's multiple like Marah and me, only less selves-aware. Not that him, the other one.
