Mental: In short, I'm weird. I have multiples. We're sometimes fun and sometimes not.

Other People: The jury's still out as to whether I'm an extrovert or an introvert. I babble about people I know in my journal, because they're a part of my day-to-day life.

Cast of Characters:

Household: Residents of the apartment, known as the Temple.

House Rules: mostly for the sake of keeping the peace, avoiding destruction, and advocating good behavior and tidiness.

The Computers: No gamergeek household is complete without a discussion of the machines, who have personalities all their own.

Good Friends & Other close people: The people I try to keep in contact with, those outside the household and immediate family who get the most love, and the people who are around on a regular basis.

Old Crew: People we used to know, or those who have drifted out of contact.

Assorted Families: Votania and I don't live with our parents anymore (we are the parents, which is a scary thought), but here they, and other assorted relatives, not just of us, are.

School: These are the people I see from day to day at DeVry.

Assorted Random Other: These people show up from time to time.

Other than that, read the journal. Feel free to leave comments and/or friend me. I may or may not comment back and/or friend you back; my standards of "interesting" are distinctly nonstandard and subject to my whimsical Gemini Air mood. Additionally, I'm very selective about friending back any time my friends list hits over 200, as I read almost all of my friends page. I am not all about the Default View. I write. I've always written. This is just taking it to the logical next step -- a public forum with a diverse audience. If I didn't have an online journal, I'd be writing just as much, if not more, in a text file or paper journal.

Cast of Characters: Household

Household: Residents of the apartment, known as the Temple, templeravenmoon.

azurelunatic, Azz, Loony, Joanie, Azure, Joan, 'Ni: me.

votania, aka destruction130, previously known as Sis: my roommate, a soulsister I met November 2000 at DeVry; we've known each other forever. We have no known biological relationship.

Little Fayoumis, aka Nephew, Little Angel: Votania's seven-year-old son. A smart cookie, but easily distracted. In the first grade. Likes Star Wars, Spiderman, Pokémon, swordfighting, anime, cartoons, gaming, and general goofing off.

marxdarx: Votania's boyfriend, the household artist, and all-around interesting guy. Almost done with his degree in 3D animation.

shammash: Neutered male cat. He adopted us in late June 2001, about a month old, a scrawny crying kitten who found Votania and told her to take him home, he was hungry. Right Now. Black & grey stripy with a short, bent-at-the-end tail. Has settled down into a relatively well-mannered adult cat. Is a total cuddleslut. Has calmed down and stopped biting so much now that he has someone else to play with.

eris_raven: my cat. Little, grey tortoiseshell, very shy. Was a stray street cat in Southside Phoenix as of spring 2003. We found her while on an expedition with gremliness. She has become almost tame for me, and often comes when called, but runs away and hides from all strangers.

Water Blossom: The only remaining betta (Siamese Fighting Fish), blue. Male.

Lunch, buffet: any number of nameless goldfish sharing temporary quarters with hot_chocolate until they become one with their destiny.

hot_chocolate: a red-eared slider turtle. He lives in a 30-gallon aquarium, and sometimes eats his roommates.

Coffee, etc.

Have been re-doing my userinfo page, and I think it looks a lot spiffier than it used to.

I've also decided that it's a Sign of the Times, whatever times it happens to be, and have plonked a paypal button onto the bottom of my website. Yet another broke college student scrounging coffee change. I do write random babblings on request. And I really should get votania's necklaces photographed and put up somewhere so people can look at them and go "oooh, shiny, I think I want one." They are shiny, but I don't expect people to take that on faith.

Next, I probably need to rearrange my website myself. Oh, and make a new website for myself-in-professional-guise. This whole connectivity thing is odd.

Sleep, lack thereof

Have been up a while.

Took a pill.

Will soon crash.

Have been reading. Have a passage picked out to type up, that's marked; iroshi was never able to wade through the book, but Cyteen has some remarkably good descriptions of what it's like to have your shields go down utterly, and what it must be like for people who are less able to screen inputs when same happens than I am.

Obscurity, surreality.

I feel shamed by the fact that my girlfriend is more surreal than I am.

But then, I'm living in this, my own brain, so I can track my own thoughts.

I'm still boggled by the concept that I have a girlfriend.

It's almost been a year. Wow.

At any rate, I'm sometimes surreal, but perhaps not enough. I feel like I ought to be able to bend my own brain backwards and inside out and have everyone else along for the ride -- but I don't know how to go about it, and don't know who would come along for the ride anyway.

Sleep/wake, that whole schedule thing

Am awake now. Will probably go back to sleep or something. Or read. Or something. Every time I have a vacation, I prefer to become nocturnal.

Brews: bath salts

I'm going to make more of this: Exorcism, Purification, & Cleansing Bath Salts as soon as I get done with a bath featuring the stuff I just made:

Small (16 oz) jar mostly full of bath salt base.
6 drops tangerine oil.
3-4 drops peppermint oil.

Equal amounts of the tangerine and peppermint will smell like the Lysol Orange Breeze scent. It's a good scent, but very, VERY strong.

So, thinking about wolfpack terminology.

If you train a kid that she's supposed to be an Alpha -- and then put her in a situation where she's the outsider -- she may well wind up Omega, or may dissociate herself from the pack and make herself a loner.

Dangerous situations, there.

So we'll have to train kids in how to gracefully be a Beta, if they can't be Alpha, if you want them to not split off from the pack.
